Aquamarine can range in color from pale blue to dark blue or blue-green, but an intense blue is the most desirable. The more intense and transparent the blue, the more valuable the stone. Aquamarine is generally very transparent and no inclusions are visible to the naked eye. Significant aquamarine deposits are found in Brazil, but also in Australia, China, India, Sri Lanka and the USA. There are also excellent deposits of good quality in northwest Zambia.
Der Aquamarin kann eine Farbe von blassblau bis dunkelblau oder blaugrün annehmen – ein intensives Blau ist aber am begehrtesten. Je intensiver und transparenter das Blau, desto wertvoller ist der Stein. Der Aquamarin ist im Allgemeinen sehr transparent und mit dem bloßen Auge sind keine Einschlüsse sichtbar. Bedeutende Aquamarin-Lagerstätten befinden sich in Brasilien, aber auch in Australien, China, Indien, Sri Lanka und den USA. Auch im Nordwesten Sambias gibt bedeutende Vorkommen in guter Qualität.
